Fiancée Visas - Immigration Services

Fiancée visas allow US Citizens and legal permanent residents to bring loved ones to the United States for the purpose of marriage. The rules governing the fiancée visa process can be tricky to follow.

If you are a United States citizen, your fiancée can file a petition with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for what is known as a K-1 visa. Following this, the fiancée can then travel to the United States and has up to three months (90 days) to marry the sponsor. If marriage does not take place within that time window, the fiancée must leave the US. For legal permanent residents trying to bring their spouses over, the process is different. “LPRs” can’t get fiancée visas; instead, they need to get married overseas and then petition immigration by filing what is known as an I-130 Form.

If you are exploring fiancée visas, you no doubt have a number of questions. Can you petition for immigration if your first application for a fiancée visa gets denied? What if your fiancée has children, siblings, or parents who also want to come to the States? What if you are late in filing certain forms related to your fiancée visa applications?
